Luke White Duggar
Luke White Duggar was born around 1842 in Virginia to Henry and Alice Duggar. His father probably died sometime before 1840. His mother was a farmer who owned $4,500 of real estate and $3,200 of personal property by 1860. He grew up and attended school in Marengo County, Alabama.
 
He enlisted in the Confederate army on May 1, 1862, and he mustered in as a private in the Gid Nelson Light Artillery. He eventually earned a promotion to 1st lieutenant.
 
He settled in Hale County, Alabama, after the war, and he earned a living as a farmer. By 1870, he owned $7,000 of real estate and $3,000 of personal property. He moved to Chesterfield County, Virginia, in the 1870s. He married a woman named Louisa, and their daughter Alice was born around 1879. He died in Alabama on June 23, 1890.
