Dear Brother
As I have a few moments to spare I will improve them by writing you a few lines to let you know that I am well and hope that this will find you the same I have bin very sick with a cold have got some better but I am dreadfull weak I am excused from duty to day. I am in hopes to be able to do my duty to morow. I received your kind and welcome latter and was glad to hear from you I have bin down to the citty I saw bella she was well she told me that she had got a latter from you/and she said that she was agoing to answer it as soon as she got time. about going of south the talk is that we shall go in two weeks from last thursday, but I dont know whether we shall or not the 29th regt is a goeing next thursday I supose. I expect that we shall take the boat at portland or the cars and go rite through to Nyork as to that I dont how but I think we shall go through boston I should like to see you before I go off but I dont think I shall be able to unless you come home I think you might come and see me I must close now so god by I remain/as ever your brother
