Dear Sister I recived your letter last night and was very glad to hear from you my health is very good at present I have been sick with the Jaunders but I have got well of them now and I am very much oblidged to you for that thougerwort that you sent me although I have not had occation to use it I am very glad to hear that you are having such good meetings at home and that you are have a revival there and I think that you have given your hart to God Emily it has been my prayer ever since that Henry died that the late Afflictions that you have had to pass through might be the means of bringing you nearer to God and I do belive that he has heard and answerd my prayer (God grant that it may be so) I know Emily the late Afflictions that you have had to pass through has been a bitter trial to you but when we know that every thing that is done is done for the best we must try and be reconsiled to our cares Oh Emily I should like very much to see you one day It seems to me that if I could see you and talk with you that it might be the means of consoleing you some Sister Emily (permit me to call you Sister) for I think as much of you as I do of any Sister that I have got and God knowes that/I think as much of my Sisters as any brother can think of a Sister I always have respected you and I always shall Oh Emily I never shall forget the last time that I ever saw you came and laid your head on my sholder and said Oh John look out for Henry and began to Cry I had the hardest work to keep from Crying that I ever had in my Life I left the room as soon as I could it seems to me that ever since that time that I ever have loved you more as a sister than I ever did before and I know that there was no one that could have done more for a Brother than I done for Henry under the circumstances he used to Sleep by the Side of me and after he went up to the Hospittle I was with him most of the time I said that he never said a word about you and he did not the day that he died the nurse told me that he thought that he was at home and wanted a peice of paper to write I think that he wanted to say something about you but he felt so bad that he could not say any thing I should have spoke to him about you but the Docter said that he was so week that I had better wait untill the next day (but Alas the next day never came with him) I do not doubt in the least but what he loved you as much as any Husband could love a wife I know that I have one Consolation that I done every thing that I could for him and I do belive that you have done the same I do not know of any news/to write you onley that we had a very heavy wind out here a week ago last Monday we have had a good many good victoreys and I think that the war will soon be over at any rate I hope that we will soon be at home I think that if nothing happens that we shall be at home by the first of July but I do not it is imposible for any one to tell even Genl Maclelen cannot tell Melsar’s Health is very good now he sais that the he would like to write to you but he dont know what to write he has not writen to any one but Mother and Caroline and you know what he is about writeing he sends his love to you Ed is well as common Give my love to Hannah when you see her and give my love to all of the inquireing Friends I give you my love and pray that you may give up all for Christ please Answer this letter and Oblidge your Brother
