Helen Atkins
Helen Atkins was born on June 16, 1837, in New Sharon, Maine, to Elisha and Lucy Atkins. Her father was a box maker who owned $800 of personal property by 1860. She grew up and attended school in Augusta, Maine. She apparently never married, and she remained in her father’s household until at least 1880. By 1900, she was living in her brother Charles’s household in Orland, Maine. She remained there until at least 1920. She died in Bucksport, Maine, on April 16, 1923.
