James Columbus Yoakum
James Columbus Yoakum was born on February 12, 1847, in Texas to Adam Stump Yoakum and Martha Ventioner. His father was a farmer who owned $1,200 of real estate by 1850. Yoakum grew up in Fannin County, Texas, and he married Mahala A. Bright in 1871. They had at least two children: William, born on February 4, 1872; and M. E., born around 1875. They lived in Chicago, Texas, and Yoakum died on April 17, 1883.
