Wyer Bradbury was born around 1815 in Maine. He married Eliza Webber, and they had at least eight children: Isaac, born around 1840; James, born around 1841; William, born around 1843; Franklin, born around 1850; Lydia, born around 1854; George, born around 1857; Henry, born around 1860; and Clara, born around 1864. They lived in Machias, Maine, and Bradbury worked as a sailor. By 1860, he had become a master mariner, and he owned $700 of real estate and $150 of personal property. Two of his sons died while serving in the Union military. Bradbury lived in Machias for the rest of his life, and he died of paralysis on March 7, 1882.
