Susanna Clayton (maiden name: Buchanan) was born around 1800 in South Carolina. She married Isaac Clayton on August 17, 1820, and they had at least six children: Thomas, born around 1829; Benjamin, born around 1832; William, born around 1834; John, born around 1839; Marshall, born around 1841; and Sarah, born on January 26, 1843. They lived in Marion County, Georgia, and her husband worked as a farmer. They moved to Faulks, Alabama, in the 1850s, and by 1860, they owned $1,200 of real estate and $150 of personal property. She died sometime after January 1863.
