Mary Richardson Currier
Mary Richardson Currier was born on October 20, 1829, in Chester, New Hampshire, to David Currier and Lydia Richardson Melvin. Her father was a farmer and bank cashier who owned $4,000 of personal property by 1860. The family lived in Auburn, New Hampshire, until the 1850s, when they moved to Derry, New Hampshire. By 1860, she was working as a milliner.

She married Edwin R. Howard on September 30, 1862, and they apparently had no children. They settled in Niles, Michigan, and her husband worked as clerk in a dry goods store. By 1870, they owned $2,000 of personal property. She returned to Derry in 1908, and she died there of “dilation of [the] heart” on December 1, 1908.
