Deer sir
            I take this oppertunity to inform you that i am a little better then i was when i last rote you i have rote you two letters before this that i have not herd from and i dont no as you have reseived them i should like to no if you hav received them i sent my likness and a role of company a i rote you that wee expected to move but wee have not and i dont know when wee shal i thought Bill chesley was lazy but i think he is sick the god Damd Doctters dont know notthing that is so what evry body ses must/be so wee had a Porthmouth Journal thare was a letter in it from the fifth new hampshire ridgament that dont tell the truth i supose you have seen it i dont know but the Colonel is well enough but the lieutenant colonell and maj are first rate men and good officers and as for the chaplin he is a dam cut thrut but the Docters are Dam shit asses or Jack asses it dont make any ods which it is no use fore me to rite any thing about the war for you no as well as i do and better i asked the captain the other day when he thought we should come home and he sed he thought we should be home this summer but what time/he did not no i wish that you and morison have that letter contradicted in the Journal you wood oblige thre forth of the Ridgaments offisers and men you no how to fix it so it would sound well and git mr morison to have it put in Brivet by a Brivet but dont call no names i dont know as you will get this please wright as soon an you get this give my love to your fox good by maj
