At a General Court Martial which convened at these Headquarters, in pursuance of General Orders No 6, current series from these Headquarters, dated January 12th 1864, and of which Lt. Col John Cowan, 19th Ky Inf. Vols, was President, were arraigned and tried—
3rd Private James M. Waddle Co E 48th Ohio Inf Vols.
Charge “Desertion”
Specification—In this that the said James M. Waddle, a Private in Co. E. 48th Ohio Inf Vols, was absent without leave from December, 31st 1862, until the 12th day of Sept. 1863.
To which charge and specification the accused pleaded as follows—

To the charge Not Guilty
The court after mature deliberation find the/
accused, Private James M. Waddle, Co E. 48th Ohio Inf. Vols.
Of the specification, Not Guilty
Of the charge Not Guilty
The court do therefore acquit him, the said Private James M. Waddle, Co E. 48th Ohio Inf. Vols. of said charge and specification.
