Dear Sister
                                                                                    It is with pleasure that I seat myself this evening to pen you a few lines to let you know that I am alive and well and glad of it and hope these few lines will fine you the same. I received your letter on last Sunday morning and was glad to hear from you. You wanted to know how how I liked to be mama I am not mama yet And I am not going to have the fun of takeing care of his youngones and I am not sory. I have not seen the oldest one yet the little one is/ a real smart little blackeyed devil about the same age of Eliza but a good deal larger than her. I am much obliged to you for sending me that Baby did you want me to take pattern by it we had a gooddeal of fun with it I told Tom he had deceived me he told me he had only two children and now he had got the third one I told him he had kittened while he was gone, and then stuck it in the trunck to make believe that you sent it. has old Bets been back since I have not much news to write it is hard to write a letter as you are not acquainted with the folks out here and the news would not interest you I have not saw Mr or Mrs Havens yet I am going up to Stockton some day this week I have got me a new bonet it cost seven dollars and half. Tell Eliza I would like to be out there to give her a/

shaking tell her to be a good girl and when I come out there I will bring her something wee are all going to meeting to centerville to night and they are out hichen up the horses and I am hurrying to get done to put this in the office to night so you must excuse my scribling the next time I write I will do it when I am not in such a hurry. I wrote you one letter today and burnt it up I want you to write and tell me all the news give my love to all the folks and save a bunch for yourself tell Jimmy I would write to him if I had time but I will the next time please From your sister    J.D.R./
