            Dear Sister
                                    I received your letter by due corse of mail and was glad to hear from you and to hear that you was well we are all well at preasent and I hope these few lines will find you all well I was sorry to hear that Rachel was sick I am afraid that she will have another spell of sickness like she had last spring you must make her stay in the house until she gets well for she dont think of taking care of herself we have not got to Keeping House yet but we expect to before long We went up to Stockton a Friday and stayed all night there is sleying up there and down here there is not any snow/
 
The folks out here are making Shugar I eat so much Maple Molases last night for supper that it make me so sick I thought I would never want to see any more you said you had got your carpet and had got a present I expect the next time I hear from you that you will have the House fixed and your carpet down and be feeling very Sunny over it I am going to make me a carpet this summer if nothing happens There was 3 men got very badly Burnt with Powder down at Salem last week one they dont think will live his face is burnt so bad that if he does live he can never see any his eyes was burnt out I dont know as I can write any mor this time I want you to write as soon as you get this tell Jimie to write Have you heard from Eliza I have wrote/ to her again about 2 weeks ago but have not got any answer yet I dont know what she means by not writing it is getting so dark I can hardly see to write and I must draw to a close if I go to the office to night. So my love to
