Dear Mother
                        I seat my self this morning to write you a few lines in answer to youre kind letter whitch i received yesterday I was glad to hear that you were all well and was glad to hear that J.R was at home but he has such a short time to stay that it will not be much satisfaction to him I am in tolerbly good health at this time and i hope when this comes to hand it may find you all well We have not got our cabins done yet but i think we will get done this/ week I have not got a letter from add in two or three weeks i do not know what is the reason he does not write to me I got them socks that you sent me my boots are good yet i think they will last me this winter you can send the things that i sent for by Bowman when he comes i think the chance is bad about geting furlows this winter i do not believe there will be any granted here this winter i will bring my leter to a close hoping it may find you all well write soon and direct yur letters to Cap Rankin Co B 45 Reg N.C.I so no more at present but reaines your affecta son untill death  W.
