Dr. Sir
Your favor of 10th inst. is before me, and in reply would say that any information I can give you in regard to your Bro. George shall give with pleasure, at present however have but very little—
Your brother left here at Four oclk for the Illinois River, intending to go from there home, at Eight came in and left his bagage with me say ing he was found for Cairo, but would not enlist here, as they would reorganize in Cairo, and said the second Reg. I find on inquiry that on act. of having six Regiments in Mexico, that the first Illinois Regiment under the new call is called the Seventh, therefore he is in the Eighth Illinois Regiment, Col. Richard J. Ogelsby/
I had hoped to hear from him before this, but have not so far it is possible however that you have heard from him direct ere this
If I can at any time give you any farther information, shall be happy to do so, untill then I remain
Very truly Yours
Erskin Williams
