Dear Robert
I have but a few moments to write and I am desirous of learning if there is any prospect of the Regts moving to Norfolk Please give me all the news as far as you know and oblige me.
I am some better than when I left Camp Hamilton, but am a long ways from being well, but I shall be on hand again before long sick or well. I am tired of the place already
Please let me know all the news you can and I will return the favor on some future occasion
The Paymaster leaves here on Thursday next to pay you off. I have got my Cash. Please tell Capt. Cerney and Akerley that they may look out for the money I borrowed of them by next mail.
I shall also send a Certificate to Col. Harlan by next mail. Tell him that his certificate of Muster was very useful to me in getting my pay, and also tell him I will get back to my duty as soon as possible.
Times are very dull in Washington and being sick I do not see anything that is going on around me much. I have not been out of/ the house but a few times since I have been at home.
The President has called for one hundred thousand more troops and it does not look much like ending the war in a hurry.
I am trying to purchase a horse
I have several in my eye, and they good and cheap here.
Remember me to all.
I am as Ever
Your friend
