Dear Mother
With pleasure i take my pen in hand to write you a few lines in answer to your kind letter whitch i received yesterday I was glad to hear that you were all well your letter found me well and i still enjoy the same blessing I have nothing of importance to write to you this time we are building winter quaters we have got/ part of oure cabbins up and it is time we were in them for it is getting tolerbly cool here I have not received a letter from add lately i do not know what is the reason he does not write i wrote to him since he wrote to me I received a letter from Rob about three weeks ago and i have not had the chance to write to him you wrote that you heard we were orderd to weldon i have not heard any thing/ about it i wish it was so for i had rather go there than stay here We drawed two months wages the other day whitch was $22 and i have nearly $50 dollars now i have to spend a good deal for when i get hungry i will buy some thing to eat I got them socks that you sent me and i was well pleased for i was about out I was glad to hear that white was geting along so well tell him to do/ the best he can probably we will get home some time to help him I should like to see the hogs you wrote that that they were fat I do not belive there will be any furlows given this winter and think the chance is bad about geting home soon I will bring my leter to a close hoping it may find you all well write as soon as you get this so no more at present but remaine your affectionate son untill death W.
