Signal Camp
Paducah June 15th 1862
My Dear Sister
I leave here day after tomorrow (17) for certain and I thought I would let you know. I sent you that testament and my picture some time ago but I do not know whether you received them or not. I sent a picture home at the same time and I have the receipt of it at home safely. I also sent mother ten dollers at the same time which went safe I am glad to say. the weather is ver very sultry in this place it is as hot here now as it is in pittsburg in August.
We are to report to General Quimby at Columbus Ky and I think we will go to Memphis from there I will write as soon as we stop. I am not sorry to leave this place for I have been here long enough I want to see some new place. I am well and hearty as usual when I see the wasted forms of the poor felows that are and have been sick I feel thankful that I enjoy such good health as I do I hope I will keep it but I dont know how soon I may be sick myself. there is not so many sick soldiers here now as there was when I came here all that were able to travel were received af furlough for a while and as fast as they get able they get a furlough if they want it. a great many are discharged/ from the hospitals and go home and become citizens again direct your letters as usual and they will be forwarded to me
and I remain ever your Brother
