Jemima Mackenzie
Jemima Mackenzie (maiden name: Mason) was born on May 11, 1819, in Edinburgh, Scotland, to James Mason and Elizabeth Henderson. She was baptized on June 11, 1819. She grew up in Edinburgh, and she immigrated to America around 1850. She married John Mackenzie, and they had at least three children: Elizabeth, born on October 10, 1851; William, born around 1854; and John, born around 1858. They lived in Charleston, South Carolina, and her husband worked as a clerk. By 1860, they owned $4,000 of personal property. Her husband died in April 1861, and she passed away in Charleston on April 16, 1891.
