My Dear Wife I Embrce the present opportunity of inform you that am well at present and whn hopeing when these few lines comes to hand you are all enjoying the same blessing our company is Generally well I will come home whenever I can get a furlough it is said that five companies of our regiment has to leave this place in a few days there is an Exchange of prisoners certain they will be sent off as soon as arangements can be made there a good many traitors here I do not know what will be done with them this is a dull old place we are fareing tolerbly well just now we have nothing to eat to day but we will get plenty tomorrow you was talking about comeing down to this country but it would be best to wait untill you here from me again Marcus Willson wanted my horse to go to the salt works but I will not let him go write to me how you are all getting along and also how offc Gant is getting I went down to the Creek the other day to go in a washing and I saw some / three or four of the worst women I ever saw shuch capers as they cut was a shame to any people one had a large boeyknife cutting at some of the boys they are the hardest cases I ever saw or heard of you will have to let me know when you are comeing so I can let your brother Wm Gant know when to be at the Depo give my love to farther and and all inquireing friends nothing more at present but remain your affectionate husband D.C.
