Reuben Haworth Jr. to Reuben Haworth, 25 February 1862
Algiers            Feb 25, 1862

Dear Father
I received a letter from Mother and she said that you would like to have me write to you so as I have not anything particular to do I thought I could not better occupy the time than by doing as you wished. as usual my health is good with the exception of a small boil under my eye which is doing well. since I wrote Mother last we have left our Camp at Indian Village and pitched tents at Algiers opposite N Orleans the 4th Wisconsin is along with us. we are under the command of Brig Gen Paine who is a smart man. we embarked on board the Steamer Morning Light and proceeded down river a distance of a hundred and thirty miles. the first year of our soldiering we did not move much. but this year we have done nothing else but move. we would hardly get settled down before it would come to strike tents and leave. we some expect to get paid before we leave here again. they owe us four mos pay when this month is out. it has been a long time since you first began to work at the Navy-Yard. I am glad you have got such a good working place. are you boarding at the same place you did when I was home. now Father I do not want you to worry about me for I have got so well used to being away from home I could not stay a week befor I should leave for some place where I could find a job to work at. I suppose you see Mr Jones pretty often if so give him my respects and tell him that Joseph Jones his nephew is in tip-top spirits sends his love to him give my best respects to Freman and tell him the 8th is all right and to Geo Paul. I do not think of much more to write so I will close hoping this letter will find you in good health.

                                                from you affect Son
