Reuben Haworth was born around 1822 in England. He married Ann Wilkinson around 1845, and they had at least five children: Reuben, born on May 7, 1846; Elizabeth, born around 1850; Frederick, born around 1854; John, born around 1859; and Sarah, born around 1861. The family immigrated to America around 1849 and settled in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Haworth earned a living as a brass finisher. He moved to South Newmarket (present-day Newfields), New Hampshire, in the 1850s, and by 1860, he owned $1,300 of real estate and $200 of personal property. A decade later, he owned $2,000 of real estate and $200 of personal property. He remained in Newfields for the rest of his life, and he died there on May 14, 1907.
