Elisa ann & Frank, I am some Better to day the diereah has puty mutch stop my loungs is sore yet my cough is Better my head dont feel so Bad as it did I am some deaf yet and vary weak yet I can walk vary slow But it tiers me I have walk to the depo to see how it looks thear it lonsom I tell you sence the solgears have left thear was A Bout 6,000 thousand left hear this morning it is two oclock now I have not heard A word from the army to Day But I can hear heavy canons firing of at A distance. I must Rest A Spell 4 oclock in the afternoon I have not heard from the army not yet tha have fixt A hospital for the wounded hear tha will all Be Brought hear it is A large Bilding the wounded will Be brought Back hear on the steam Boat thear has five gun Boats two steam Boats two tug Boats gon oup, tha was three days crossing hear Besides those that went oup on the Boats this morning about 6000 thousand of them it was A sight to see them when tha started oup the River with full steam on I will finish this to morrow. if eny one ask how I am tell them I am plaing oup gentleman solgear walking around the city with my cain I shall be with the regement as soon as I am well enough to walke two miles I dont know when that will Be I hope soon
Monday morning, 13, I feel better not But little newes from the army as yet our army drove the Rebels three miles yesterday into thear strong hole this morning our army Attack them Again to day will Be the Hard Battle I have not learned as yet how meny was kild or wounded onley that one of general Banks staff officers was kild. tha say the kild was small on our side the steam boat has not come Back yet that was to Bring Back the wounded hear when she gits hear I shall git the perticklears 2 oclock we solgears git no news that we can place confidence in yet we shant git the news from the army till some wounded solgear git hear we cant git none from the officers hear tha ceap it to them selfs
well Frank I have got A mosquetor Bar it is A nise thing to put over you the misqueator cant git to you to Bite you nor the flies I find it is A nise thing for me now I pade $3 Dolars for it & would not take $5 Dolars for it you will see in my other letter the movements of the army when tha left hear it is vary still times hear now or it seems so for to have so meny leave But you would think thear was a grate meny hear noe thear is A Bought 3,000 thousand left hear thear is A Bought 1,000 thousand oup to the fort one Batrey is lift hear and the Rest is in camp near the Depo Redey eny time when cald on for duty the direction I told you was writ how to direct you letter Banks is hear with this division you direct them as I told you or as you did the other letter you wrote me and tha will come one of the generals staff gits newes from the army every two ours But he tell not a word he was left hear for that purpes I will write soon
