Eliza Ann Holmes (maiden name unknown) was born around 1818 in New York. She married Asa Holmes by the early 1840s, and they had at least two children: Mary, born around 1842; and Frank, born around 1850. They lived in Oxford, New York, and her husband worked as a farmer. He enlisted in the Union army and died of chronic diarrhea in November 1863. Eliza applied for a widow’s pension in January 1864 and secured one soon afterward. She died sometime after 1864.
