Rochester April 28th 1863
Dear Aunt:
We received your letter of the 1st & were very glad to hear from you. this is my seckond attempt to write to you. a week ago to day, (sunday) I commenced & had one page written when we had company come. Eddie’s sister & husband they live about 1 1/2 miles from hear. it is very pleasant to day Pa & Eddie have gon to hear a Mr Hammond a revialist. Gen Thom Thumb & his wife have been in the city the past 2 days we all went to see them they are just a cunning as they can be. Lutia sais she would give $100. if she was hir little sister. I wish you could see them they are so pretty! our familey are all well my baby groes finley she was 6 months old the 13 of this month. hir name is Nellie Ernestine we call hir Tiney she is cutting teeth she had 2 when she was 3 months old. well Aunt Eliza you would like our pictures I have not got them / now or I would send them this time when tiney was 4 months old I had hir picture taken in my armes they are both very good. I shall have hirs taken again before long when I get short dresses on hir that will be as soon as the weather is warm enough ma & I are agoing to visit you this summer we shall fetch Lutia & tiney. we intend to visit all far & near. Eddie will come affter me when we get ready to come home. then wont we have a nice time we will visit marey. I am glad she has a good kind husband & a nice little boy! you may expect us in July I guess we shall not come before that. mas Brother Thomas was hear this week on his way hom from the west. I am expecting a letter from Cousin Daniel it has been some time since I wrote to them & have not received any answer. if you should see them pleas give my love to them. you asked me where Mrs Warren is now the las that I heard of hir whearabouts was over a year ago she was in carbondale PA hir sones or the to / yongest are in the armey & James was untill he was discharged for not providing any thing for his wife & child. oh I have ever so much to tell you when I see you. Eliza has ben married almost 2 years. well I cannot write all that I want to tell you but if you will wate untill I come I will tell you more than I could write in a week ma is busy getting supper Eddie has just come & is now playing with tiney. so I can finish this before dark. Pa & ma’s health is first rate ma never was as fat as she is now she weighs 177 pounds. Pa works in the same shop that he did when we first came here Johney works with him he is a good stedy boy George & nelia gos to school. Hattie is a grate big girl & weighs 136 pounds she heps ma do the work. my health is not very good I think a journey will do both ma & myself good. well I must clos my letter ma sends hir best love to you & so does Pa & Eddie & all the children myself included. give my love to mary & write soon as conveinant / the children wish to be remembered to frankey & kiss little Roy for me.
remember that we are coming if nothing happens to prevent. by the way I allmost forgot to tell you that we have not heard from Horace since the first of January & we are feeling very anxious about him. pleas excuse all mistaces.
