Eliza & Frank I left the Regt on the 4 Day of sept in company with thirty others for this plase whitch is sick and lame was not fit to go with the Regement on this Epedition tha started the same day. I dont know whither tha went to mobeal or to galveston. I have got my discharge papers with me, and the docter hear ses tha aint maid out Right thare is five others got thear discharge & tenn got furlowes for sixty days & he ses tha aint Right neather But we are A going to the medical director and if he sines them then we are all Right then tha hav got to go to the adgertent generels offis & have him sine them, then we are all Right I hope tha are all Right if tha are / I will Be home the last of september to injoy some of them apples & sider with you Frank I will know in A Bout A week I think. I shall take it cool & not worry A Bout it I think it will come out all Right yet you nead not send me Eny more letters till you hear from me for I shant git them if you write. I will write as soon as I can find out A Bout the papers two words makes A grate diferance some time in making papers out. it depends all on the medical director now whither he will sine them as tha are or not. I hope he wount Be vary pertickler A Bout them. if he sines them wount I Be vary mutch pleasd I will fetch all Round Right yet no use woring A Bout it the onley way is to take cool

good morning Frank I feel some Beter this morning it pleaseis me to see those that have got furlow papers with them hear what A stew tha are in A Bout thear papers & some that have got thear discharge papers with them tha up tho tha did not know witch End tha stand on. wall I take it cool & I think I will git mine Before tha do you cant hury this officer that sines thease papers it ma Be two mounths Before I git mine sind thear is proberly two thousand A head of me & thear is no use A fretting A Bout it Asa Holmes
Sept 8 I aint so well this morning I cant hardely set oup to write this I think I shall git over it in A fiew days I was taken numb all over my hands & leags thear is no / strengh in them I can walk & that is A Bout all I shall Be glad when I git my papers fixt out Right so I can Be on the way home. it might not Be in four weeks yet & it ma Be in one week I shall hurrey them A long as fast as I can
