one thing I like to forgot that is the Docttor of the Brigade he is Boss over all Docters in the Brigade he has ordeard the sick to have two Rations of whiskey A day and the solgears two I take mine and put it in A Botle with some hopdust and drink A litle three times A day I think it will do me more good than all the qunine the docters have got in the army that is all tha give to the sick no matter what ails them I am A fraid it will git me in A habit of drinking not Being ust to it But I will gard againts it I am going prety fast it must Be the whiskey Asa Holmes
 
Elisa, ann, I wish you would tell Mr galpin he nead not send me eny mour papers for I dont git them tha dont pay eny tention to papers in the postoffis tha have so many letters to see to it is A job to distribet them to diferance Regement so many of in diferance ways / Frank can have them to Read he can git them at the offis
