Mr and Mrs Grayson Carter
My Dear Bro’s and Sisters Nephew and
Nieces.

I write this evening to let you know that I am well and you will see by the heading of this that I have arrived at home. I visited in Ohio a couple of weeks after I left Pennsylvania. then I came to St Louis and staid one week visiting my nephew Alexander Johns. I reached home on the 19th inst. we have been having terrible cold weather for two weeks the thermometer has stood 6 degrees below Zero some of the / time but yesterday it turned warm and has been thawing yesterday and today. It seems good to be at home again although I could have staid all winter and then not any more than got around with a good visit to each of my friends. I shall never forget my visit and the pleasant times spent with each and every one of my friends in the east. My daughterinlaw met me at the train coming home. my son was called to the southern part of the state the day before I came he is home now but expects to start out to his ranch near Dodge City the latter part of the week. His ranch has been burned off and this / is hard wh weather on his cattle. the man that takes care of his cattle says he thinks they will have to be fed some. you know out there the cattle graze the year round. only when the pastures get burned off which is sometimes the case, then they have to feed them. Samuel is feeding 100 head. he has a partner. they have them here. I have been out in the country visiting today and did not get home until after dark. everything looked perfectly natural after my long absence only the children. they have grown so. My Dear Niece Mary Elizabeth. I will never forget my pleasant visit with you and all of my relatives / there. Lib will you please send me some more of that seed of that plant I admired so much. I believe it is called Josephs coat of many colors something like that anyway tell Sister Louisa that I would like to have seen her again, and show this letter to all of the relatives for it is to all of you. be sure and let Louisa read it. I hope my sisters will all be better when this reaches you. The family all join in sending my their kind regards to all. I believe I have written all I can think of so I will close. Give my best respects to Mrs. Mobbly if she is in town. Write when convenient. Mrs. S. Carter
