Respected Father and Mother
I once more take my seat to let you know I am in Pretty Good Health and hope those lines will find you all in good Health I would like to hear frome you the best kind as i have Not herd from home for two Months as Near that i expect there is several letters at the Regt for me but i cant get them the Regt is About 100 miles from here tha have lost some men since tha left here at the grand gulf fight / but how Many i Cant tell if you take a Paper you can tell where we are we are in the 3erd Brigade 9th Division and 13 army Coar Oysterhouser is Comanding our Division it is in the lead our Regt is the advance Regt. She leads 120 Regts. but i Expect when i see it it Not look as well as it did i dont look to see all of Co. H. any More I herd the boys had Not very much to Eat but was well satisfied i am well glad if tha are satified for that is half of the battle if a Man gets home sick here he is gone up i have Never saw one yet that got well if he was in that fit /
I am well satisfied i know i have have to be whether i want to or Not. I want you to tell Wm Keesling to tell Wm Miller that Welsley is dead he died in this hospital on the 11th of this Month he was up and Eate dinner and did Not appear to be very sick untill about ten Minutes before he died it is Not very strange to see a man drop dead as he walkes along there is a many death of that Kind happens here there was some 8 or 9 deaths last Night but that is Nothing uncoming to hear of so many the grave yards are filling up very fast and will faster before long as it is geting very hot in this country and where there is so many / together it Cannot be healthy I dont know how soon tha will send me up the river but i hope it is before long as i would like to hear from you so well I have Not much News to rite to you this time if you write to me you Nead Not send any money as tha May send me North in a few days but rite to as soon as you Can when you write Direct your letters to Vanburen Hospital Millikans Bend La. tell bills tha have forgoten me i wrote a letter to all of them but bills i rote to them last I must Close I send my Love to you all give my Respects to all friends
