            Dear father & Mother I tak this opertunety to riting to yow to let yow now that I am well at presant & hoping yow arre all well at presant pap wee got her on Saterday morning a bout one oclock pm & wee all [paper fold] but we had a little truble on the rode thare was a Sesesh stold ouer Carpet sacks he Stold lev Elleses & Joseph bets Carpet sacks but hee could not get mien for I had mien under my head in his hous mee & bud & one of doudneys boys was in his hous & the boys all came back & surcht his house & they found Jo bets & they sent up to toun after Curnell huse & he sent som guards after him & they tok him in Jaille and Curnel huse seys they will hang him for his stealing ower Carpet Sacks. lev Ellis haint got his wee dont now when hee will / get his. pap I will get a job in the shop when king comes i think if wee stye her but i dont think we will stay here a tall for Curnal morow is a going to leave pirtey soone i now for we think that he will go to Camp denison pap i get plenty to eat of evry thing & wee are worm her i have got two blankets they are purty heavey pap i am a going to send my Carpet sack home if i git a chanse tom meser is as fat as a hog he sends his best respek to all of hs frends pap i want yow to send get me a pair of gloves buck skin gluves that wat his got hie tops to them /
 
pap there is a litel bit of snow her but wee have a god lot of wood her wee cant frese a tall her papele is told us a god meney lyes a bout this camp but ther wont be eney fiting here a tall they are a frade to come upon us for we have got intrenchments dug her if they will git whipt so bad they they wont now wat to do ther was afite at bucanan Genarl RosenCrance ower genarl was ther he whipt them he tokt five hundard prisners and all of ther guns & som of ther wagons & horses Cleaned them out in tirley send them home gloves /
