Mary Elizabeth Moore (maiden name: Hall) was born around 1822 in Pennsylvania to Spicer Hall and Elizabeth Evans. Her father was a shoemaker. They moved to Belmont County, Ohio, sometime before 1840, and she married William R. Moore there on November 17, 1842. They had at least five children: Owen, born around 1845; John, born around 1847; Lurestan, born around 1850; George, born around 1853; and Francis, born around 1857. Her husband worked as a master blacksmith in Barnesville, Ohio, and by 1860, they owned $3,000 of real estate and $500 of personal property. A decade later, they owned $9,000 of real estate and $1,280 of personal property. Her husband died on March 3, 1875. By 1900, she was living in her son George’s household in Amador County, California. They moved to Washington, California, in the early 1900s, and she died sometime after 1910.
