Camp Jefferson January the 10 1862
Dear Mother I reseaved youre kind leter on the 10 of the month and was glad to hear from yow but Mother I am well at presant hoping these few lines will find yow enjoing the Same helth but Mother yow hurd that we had a fite at Bolen Green but we hadent NO fite a tall and I dont think that there never will be eney fiting there but if there is eney I dont think that we will be in hit for there is a bout 10 thousand of oure men had of ouse but we are be hind all ove them but there will be a fite be a Skirmish a bout the time oure men gets a bout 25 thousand on the other / Side of the Rebls but I think that oure men will take them all prisners for they cant get eney thing to eate but I think this wor will be ended in 90 days from the first of January the for the way thing is going on but Mother ben Uncels lit on to me a bout a few words that I sent his mother but hit was the truth but one of our Sergtments Sergts Mcdonal wrote a few lines to his mother but yow give hit to her but dont tell Miss Uncles he sent her them few lines but Mother I wos the other day a Shewing one Mule I put 2 shoes on one the other day but Robert Hase is bin a Shewing some mules but I dont now but what / that I will get a job yet but if I doe I will write to yow a gain but Mother I am as well as ever I was but I way a hundard and Sixty pounds but Mother if pap dos send me that box get a can of honey and doe hit up and send hit to me but if yow have got eney Bread stick hit in and let all come that will send but we have got plenty to eate but I beleave that is all at presant
