Camp Taylor                                                                                       Aprile 19th 1862
 
Dear Mother I set my self down to ancer youre kind letter wich wos dated the 3 it came to hand on the 15 of this month & it found me well at the presant time & hoping when those few lines comes to hand they may find yow all in the same state of helth well Mother we left Shelbyvill a bout too weeks a go & started for Fayetteville & when we got to the plase we campt by the side of the River Bank & staid there 5 days & then there was orders for us to go to Huntsville & we started in the after noon & we traveld 10 miles & the next day we went 20 miles but there was 8 thousand men a head of us & they took Huntsville & there was a bout to be a fight at corrinth Alabama & the Rebles / there didant no that we had Huntsville & they telegraphed up there to no if it wood be safe to send a lot of Rail Road cars & prisners there & old Gen Michele telegraphed back to them to send oll the cars they had & a heavy guard with them & they sent them & we got one thousand prisners & 17 enjines & a bout 6 hunderd rail Road cars So we have cut of there grub line between Memfus & charlston but we campt at Huntsville & staid there 3 days & then we got orders to take the cares & go to Decator Alabama & we got there last night & we staid in the wire house oll night & the next morning we campt by the side of the Tennessee River there is the nicest Rail Road bridge that goes a crost the River but I think that we wont go no ferther down South for we have / got pesasion of this rail Road but yow wonted to no if how fere we was from Mufersboro we are a bout a hunderd miles from the plase but Mother I exspect that yow will have Bill Riley back there to lay a rownd & get drunk a gain for he has bin tring to get a dischare & I exspect that he will for he has bin sick ever cence he has bin in the aremey I now shall bring my letter to a clos write soon
