Dear Mother I now take my pen in hand to let yow now that I am well at presant & hoping when those few lines comes to hand they may find yow oll the same well mother we are still in camp here at Huntsvill but we have not much to do onley guard the old Genral once & a while we went to aithons last mondy eavning & we staid there oll night & the next day we went down to the Tennessee River & there was a bout 3 thousand Sesaish & we was a going to clean / them out but Genarl got there be fore we did & he took a good meney prisners & the Sessaish left be fore we could get a crost the River & after that we started back to huntsvill & now we are provose guards and me & to other Boys out of oure compney is a guarding the curnols quarters in town we stand guard in the day time & sleep oll night we dont halft to stay out dors we stay in the curnols office & we get as much as we can eaght here & we haint a going no futher down South if they do oure Regtment will stay here & guard huntsville ville / but mother oure Regt has bin a going so much that I could not get a chance to write but now we have got into a job that just soots me & I can get to write home evry week but I exspect that yow heard a bout Lee Tillmans being dead he died at Mufersbro I dont know what was the mater with him but oll the Rest of the Boys is well at presant that is oll at presant wrigh soon direct to Huntsville Alabama in care of capt J H W Co B 3rd ohio
