Dear Mother I tak the plasure of ancering youre kind letter wich came to hand on the 11 of June & it found me well at the presant time & hoping when those few lines comes to hand they may find yow enjoing the same blesing well pap mother I havent not got much news to wright onley we onckey pide chatanooga & the Rebles came & drove oure men out of there & they got on this side of the river & burnt the town down with bum / Shels but Mother yow sed in youre letter that Eley Hall was a coming to the regtment a gain but if I was at home like he is I wouldant never come back a toll for they dont nead him here for we have got enuff men in oure compney but if they had that fight at Richmond I think the war will soon be over but mother I heard that old Bill Folger drawed 3 revolvers & a knife on web at a time but mother we exspect that we will go up to chatanooga & clean them Rebles out but oure colnel has gone home on ferlow but mother / old Gen O M Mitchels has got his famley here with him & we exspect to stay here untill the war is over but Mother I got my picture taking the other day & I sent it to pap but I have sent pap 40.00 dollars & I got a reseat for it so no more at the presant time but Still rean yours Son
