Dear Mother I take the plaisure of ancerng youre kind letter of the 27 of June it came to hand on the 12 of July and it found me well at the presant time & hoping when those few lines comes to hand they may find you & oll the folks the same well mother I havent not got much news to rite onley they have bin a fiting at Chatanooga & a great meney rebles kild & Severl wounded & a gret meney taking prisners & we lost Severl but Genl McCooks division made them retreat & I think that oure men has taking the plase but I hope it is so but the / other day there was some of oure teems a coming from Shebyville & som of morgons calvry a tacked them & made them drive there teems 7 miles from the main Road & then they ran sacket oure wagons & took to nice flages that belongd to the 10 ohio & they must of cost some is a long 13 hunderd dolars & last night there was a detachmait & they went after them & I havent heard wether they had got them yet or not but I was on guard yesterday & so was bob hase & this morning bob sed he must have som Rostenyears & I went with him & I got a haver Sack full of corn & so did bob but Mother I am a going to send Serrah Graham that pickture but mother yow look / at them pickturs that Miss Edson has got but mebey she hasant got them yet but dan Edson sent them home to Miss Edson yow can see oure Cook house & dan a seting in the dore & you can see them boys a plaing cards by the beeg stump they was a plaing cards when the duch man man was drawing the pickture of but Mother I just heard that they had keched them Rebles Rebles that took them flags & now they have got the flags back but mother tell pap to rite to me but charles McKown sends his best respecks to yow & all the Boys is well /
mother yow wanted to no how wat was the reson that brack Mahone dont rite to his mother I told him to rite to here he is well & a driving teem
