                                                                                    Huntsville Alabama June 11th 1862

                                    Dear Mother I take the plaisure of ancering youre kind & welcom letter wich came to hand on the 10 of this month & it found me well at the presant time & hoping when those few lines comes to hand they may find oll of yow enjoying the same Blesing well Mother I havent not got much news to wright onley we took Chatanooga the other day & oure regtment was orderd to go ther & it is a bout one hunderd & 25 miles to Chatanooga but the 2 ohio went in our plase but if we had of went we wood go on the cars one hunderd miles but I am glad they went in on [paper fold] a bout going to Such plases but Mother I am on guard at a Rail Road Bridge a bout 6 miles from decator there is 4 Boys out of oure compney with me Bill McCartney is one but yow wouldent no the others with out yow nowed Thomas Duffey pap noes his Brother but Mother I have got paid of on [paper fold] & I am a going to exspress 40 dollars home to pap the money is 2 twenty dollar Bills the United States crip but pap can keep it or use it if he wants to but mother we get plenty to eat here & there is no hops of Being in no / more fights for the Rebles aint near here the last a count we heard of them they was a bout 3 hunderd miles of but mother oll of oure men they took at pitch Burg landing they feched them to chatanooga & told them to go to there homes & not take up arms a gainst the Suthern confedercy eney more they was a bout 25 hunderd of them & I seen a lot of Boys out the 78 ohio the Regtment Sam fordyce Belong to but the Rebles is a leting oll of oure men loose for they sed that they hadant no grub to feed them but the Boys sed that they eat nothing but a little corn Bread & a lot of grease & mule meet & they sed that was oll they could get but mother oure Regtment was pirty near to pitchBurglanding we was 30 miles from there & we dident see not a Reble but we was where they campt & they left before we could get where they was they heard the we was a coming so I shall Bring my letter to a close wrigt soon &

            Dear Brother I take the plasure of ancering youre kind letter of the 3 of this month wich came to hand on the 10 of this month & it found me well at the presant time & hoping where those few lines comes to hand they may find yow injoing the same Blesing well Lureston I havent not got much news to wrigh onley we have got chatanooga & we are a going to hold it but oure Regt ment was orderd to go there & the 2 ohio went in oure plase but I am on guard at a Rail Road Bridge & we have got forty fide here & the Rebles cant tuch us if they should come but we get plenty to eat here & there aint no danger of having a fight but Lurestin I want yow to tell me in yore next letter ho oll has gon & wether Bill Clark is at home or not

            Dear Father I take the plasure of wrighting yow a few lines to let yow now that I am well at the presant time & hoping when those few lines comes to hand they may find yow enjoying the Same Blesing well father I havent not got much news to wright onley Gen Mitchels devesion took Chatanooga the other day & oure Regt was orderd to go there & the 2 ohio went in oure plases & I am glad of it but pap I am on guard at a Rail Road Bridge & there is 4 Boys out of oure compney with me Bill McCartney is with me & Thomas duffey Edd Duffeys Brother & Bob finch but pap we got paid of the other day & as soon as I go to camp I am a going to exspress it to yow there is a bout 40 dolars 2 twenty dolar Bills but pap I heard that uncel hez hand gon to the armey but he had better of staid home & I heard that old Bill Folger & web had a fight & old Bill drwed 3 revolvers & a dirk knife at web So no more at the presant time wright soon & give my best especks to L Buler & Isaac pery & oll of my enquiring friends                 wright soon
