Dear Mother I take the plaisure of writing yow a few lines to let yow now I am well at presant & hoping when those few lines comes to hand they may find yow in the same helth well Mother we are a going to get paid of to morrow & I am a going to send my money home to pap I am a going to send a bout 50 dollars if I get paid for wot I thing we will but / if we dont get paid for so much I wont send onley 35 or 40 dollars but I will send all I can well Mother the day they had the figh at pitch Burglanding the Rebles took 25 hunderd of oure men prisners & the other day they let them loose & they come to huntsvill & now they are on there way to pitchburg landing they left here this morning but mother Tomey Messer is well & he / was a going to write to yow to day but he had to go on guard & he will write as soone as he comes of of guard oll the Barnesvill boys is well at presant Ben Strall did not get shot a tall Bill riley is at nashvill he got taken prisners when he was a coming from Mufersbro & he is at nashvill now but Mother I think this war will be over pirty soone & I hope it will /
 
I shall bring my letter to a close but give my best respecks to Miss Williams & all of my enquiring friends
