            Dear Mother I take this opertunety to writing yow a few lines to let yow now that I am welle at presant & hoping these few lines will find yow & all of the foles the Same well mother we havent left here yet & I dont think that we will for some time & [paper hole]ing going on her onley compney drill that once a day & standing guard I go on guard once a week & that aint nothing much but mother Robert Hase got a leter from Lurestin & hit sed that the nigars had a beag meeting there & we hird that the cars run off of the track & kild 2 solgers & wounded 15 & I wont to now where they was a going to well mother I got a letter from Isaac Perry & I was glad to here from him well mother you may send that Box for I want to get something to eat like home & send me a couple of sheck shirts & a vest but yow nedant to send a very Beag Box & yow may tell dutch Jake that I want him to put some Beloney in the Box Sosage & I will remember him when I come home & get 2 or 3 pair of socks & direct the Box to / Bacon Crick Camp Jefferson Ky in care of capt James H. Wing Co. B. 3rd ohio redgt but yow have the Box directed the way I have wrote & hit will come well mother we haint got paid of yet & I gess that we wont get paid off untill oure other 2 months is up & tell pap to send me one dollar & I will send him som money when I get paid off but mother you hird of the fite at Mills Spring near Columbus Kentuckey hit [paper hole]0 miles from here & oure me r[paper hole] to columbus & kild between 2 and 3 hundard of them & took 12 canons from them & took pirty near all of ther tents & kild Genral Zolcofier he was a Relbee Genral curnel Fry cild him but mother tell Lurestin that I will send him one of them cards when the preacher gets som moore but mother yow wanted to now if I got 3 stamps in the litnesses but I didant get them that is all at presant but give my best respecks to all ove my friends Robert B Hase sends his best respecks to you & pap but Mother give this cannon to Francis
