Isaac Perry was born around 1823 in Ohio. He probably grew up in Belmont County, Ohio, and he began work as a wagon maker in Barnesville around 1845. He married a woman named Sarah in the late 1840s, and they had at least two children: Theodore, born around 1849; and Mary, born around 1853. By 1860, he owned $700 of real estate and $200 of personal property. He enlisted in the Union army on July 12, 1863, and he mustered in as a private in J. L. Deens’ Ohio Volunteer Company four days later. He mustered out on November 1, 1864. He returned to Barnesville after the war, and by 1870, he owned $3,000 of real estate and $300 of personal property. He helped train at least one apprentice in the early 1870s. He probably died in 1899.
