Camp Washington dec. 15th 1861
Dear Father I take this opertunety to riting yow a few lines to let yow now that I am well at presant & hoping these few lines will find yow the same but pap I reseaved youre kind leter & was glad to heare from yow but pap we have left Louisville Ky & we are at lisebth town Ky oure Camp is about one mile this side of town & we left Louisville last Monday morning & we went a bout 10 miles a day to Soe it is a bout 40 miles from Louisville but we think we will all go back to guard the town Soe I heard but I hope hit is soe but pap I aint dis Satasfide a tall but I wood like to got that job if I can but if we goe to Louisville I dont care a bout that job / a tall for each solger gets 7 & a half dolars amonth more for guarding the town Soe the boys ses the Sitsen gives them that but pap there was a three Sent pease in the leter but pap if we get to goe to Louisvill I want yow to send me a box ove things to me but pap that man that sed that old gun belong to him but david Stidd sold it for 10 cts & about 3 days after Stidd sold hit dan Jones got drumbd out ove camp with a man be hind him with a gun & banet so he was md about hit but he is gone to his home pap I want yow or mother to send me frainces & Sises litness in the next leter but I will send him a presant when I can get a neice one Soe he sent / me a 3 cts pease but pap I aint doing nothing atall but yow Sed Jos Mckee was working in the shop but pap I wood like to see yow first strate but I think I will after while if I live but when I get home I will have alitle money for yow but pap tomey ses that he is a going to send his money to you to keep for him untille he comes home but pap I aint got eney money atall now but I will get some in a bout one month from now & I will send hit to yow as soon as I get hit but tell Isaac Pery that I am all rite at presant & Soe is litle tomey meser tell Isaac but pap tell uncel Joseph that I am a going to rite to him pirty soone but that blanket dose me / lots a god but we have got a stove in oure shanty & we are as warm as a fliter but all there aint eney snow here atall but the people is a plowing for oats & it is pirty warm here but pap there was a lot ove pervisons come here and we want to now wether hit was sent to the Barneville boys or to the boys from mout olivet they got a good eal ove buter & pise & cakes. Soe tomey sends his best respects to yow & Isaac Pery & all ove his friends pap give my best respects to J B Williams & to Louis Bouler & all ove my frends Soe that is all ove my at presants rite soone
