I take the plaisure of writing yow a few lines to let yow now that I am well at the presant time & hoping when those few lines comes to hand they may find yow oll in the same stat of helth well I reseaved youre kind letter of the 14 it came to hand on the 23 of this month & I was glad to here from yow but Lurestin we had a Small / fight at Bridgeport near the Tennessee River the Rebles was campt on the other Side of the River & we plased oure cannon on the side of the hill & we drond up in line a battle & went down to the Bridge on duble quick & there wos one of there compneys on picket & we capturd oll of them & when the Rebles wos a retreating overe the other Bridge oure men commencd to throing Shells at / them & we set the Bridge a fire & Burnt it down while they wos a crosing the Bridge & there must of bin some 20 cild there But the Rebles did not get to cill none of oure men & if the Rebles had of bin on this other side of the River we wod of took them oll prisners but we staid there too or 3 days & then we started for Huntsvill & we marched oll night & part of the next day but Lurestin / I exspct that yow heard of us a burning down the Bridge at decator it was a rail Road Bridg we burnt it on Sunday in the after noon tell uncel William that I send my best respecks to him & Isaac Perry tell youre pap that I wood like to see him & tell him that I can strike a prty hard lick with the Sledge
