            My Dear Mother and Father I take my pen in hand to let yow that I am well at presant and hoping when those few lines comes to hand thay may find yow and oll of the folks the sam we Mother I have seen oll of Moffets companey and Ellwood Foulk and wos glad to see yow them well we left Huntsvill a bout one month a go and so did not get no mail a tooll untill we come to Nashvill and I got 7 / letters and one from pap and J D Hall but I exspeckt that yow heard a bout the Rebls a taking Green River and took 4 thousand prisners but we wos at Boling Green and I hadent much to to Eat but Genl Buell come on to old Bragg with one hunderd thousand men and yow ought to of seen the Rebls git out of the way but ther aint no news her but thay say we ar a going to go to Cincinnati and we ar a going to get paid of in a few day and I am a going to / send pap 40 or 50 dollars tell him to look for it but this is of I will right at presant with this led pensyl but I will rite right a tusday and tell yow when to look for the money I am a working at Black Smithing tell pap me and Robert Hase we dont haft to march we ride and a nother thing we dont haft to go in to eney Battels Joseph McKee has got a lame Back thay took him to the Hospittell to day he is some Better but Benn Stroll we left / nashvile in the Hospittell O J Barnes has come with the new recruits
