Dear mother I take the plasure of writing yow a few lines to let yow now that I am well at the presant time & hoping when those few lines comes to hand they may find yow enjoing the same Blesing well mother we are still in camp by the city of huntsvill & there is no danger of having eney fight here for the Rebles aint with in one hunderd miles / of here & they cant get a crost the river fore pirty near oll of oure devesion is a long the river side & they cant come a crost the river but mother I have wrote 2 letters to pap & I am a going to write evry other day & then yow will get to here from me ofton but Mother oure men the other day went down to decatur & took 2 peases of cannon & they burnt the town down with / bum Shells & old Gen O M Mitchll sed that if There ever was one of his men shot in huntsvill by a citasin he wood burn down the town down to ashes & they could live a Soilders life we
