                                                                                    Camp Jefferson dec the 28 1861
 
            Dear Mother I take this opertunety to riting yow a few lines to let yow now that I am well at presant & hoping these few lines will find yow & all of the folk the Same but Mother as I promest yow that I wood not rite to Folger but mother I never will write to them eney moore for I will write to Some neicer people but mother I got them Liteneses that yow Sent me and I was glad to See Frankes & Sises but I thout that yow wasant a going to write but I reseaved the leters the 28 day of dec but tell Pap that I wood like to be there a helping him but I dont care a bout coming home untill / I get 5 or 6 months pay but if I was at home I could make as meney guvermont chanes as george balley or Joseph Mckee but mebey I will get home after while for the Sessaonist is all left here for they have retreated a way back to Nashville Ky & the rebls burnt oup all the Brigges & tore oup the rail road track but oure men has run the rebles a way off but there wont be eney fiting in Ky a tall I dont think but Mother if pap is a going to send a box of things to me but if he dose let him Marke the Box at to Lisebth Town Ky at Bacon Crick camp Jefferson Kentuckey in care of capton J H Wing Co B 3rd ohio redgt ment OVUSA

but Mother when hit comes I haint got Eney Money but tell pap to send me som 2 dolars & if the box is paid for when hit comes I will send the money back to him but a pay day if I get Eney money I will send hit home to pap but Mother I want pap to send me some stamps for I haft to send the leters whith out stamps & they dont like hit but Tomey Meser is well at presant he sends his best respecks to yow & pap Soo write Soone & direct youre leter to Lisebth Town Ky in care of capton J H Wing Co B 3rd ohio redgt
