Dear frend of Mason City
 
I will sent you all alether
 
This is allether for all of you
 
I am here and sick at present but I am giting bether I shall be able to drill next week.
 
            I think of home now and then how well I youst to live there and how Well I had my health there At Scotts and to look how I hav to live now its very Hard indeed to hav to sleep On the ground and stand Gard night and day in the Wrain and when I had a Chance to sleep I had to Wrap up in my wet blan Blanket and sleep the best Way I could regular /
 
I wish you would see Porter and ask him if He had got my Likeness yet if he had not Yet yew get it and send It to me and I will pay Yew for your trouble
 
While I must bring my Letter to a close I ask the People of mason citty to Forgive my bad conduct And my misbehaver I will Try to do better here after
 
            Give my best respects To all except Elisbeth [?] She sent her best respects To all of the boys except me
