I am well & harty as usual John Baker has been taken to the Hospitable at Nashville his Discharge is being made out but hasent been returned yet to him I got a letter from John yesterday stating he was well as usual the news from Grants army are cheering if reliable We are in hopes we will not have to serve three years I think we will be at home in 28 or 29 months at least if we are spared
I was truly glad to hear from home once more and to hear how you was getting along with the farming and the news in general there has been a depot built here and also an express office at this place. We expect the pay master here before long
I have $40 dollars now and probly will Draw $26 the next time then i will send you some money if we Remain at this place. before when we was paid it was uncertain about sending money as there was no express office nearder than Nashville and we had to trust money in the hands of some one to express it for us J Turner /
