My Ever Dear Brother & Sister
it is with great pleasure that I once more take the pen in hand to write a few lines to you, to let you know that I am well and and yet enjoying the great blessing which God sees fit to bestow on me a poor sinfull creature

I received your letter larst night and was verry glad to hear from you once more and also to hear that you are all well, and how glad I was to get that Photograph and it looks as natural as life and the same you did when I came away. I had my picture taken the other day to send to you, but thought I would wait untill I got yours. it is not a / first rate picture for you know my eyes take bad and but they all say it looks natural. I will send you that money back Cooledge for I think you need it more than I do for we have just been payed off but money is of but a little account here for every thing is so high that it takes all anyone has to buy anything butter is 50 cts a lb cheese 30 cts apples 2 or 3 for 10 cts and every thing else in proportion and every thing is high in Vermont isnt it. Well the sixth Corps is gone out on a reconnaisance.
but I must stop for we have got orders to march in five hours. I think I shall send this by one of the boys who is agoing home on a furlough
