                        Dear Parents it is with pleasur that I will try too write A fiew lines hoping when they come too hand they will find you all in good health as for my Self I hav not bene very well for the last too weaks I have had A light atact of the intermiting fever I was rit sick the first weak. I kep my head the most of the time the first weak but the las weak I have bene up all the time I am at “the Regt” hospital and have ben for ten or 12 dais wher I hav had as good cair taken her as I cold wish for. I think that I will be abl for duty in A fiew dais / the health of the Regt is very good thare is only 3 in the hospital and they ar lik myself abel too run over camp. the Bois of “Co” H ar all well. las evning “T” Godown and “Notly” Garison land her from brazer island wher the Regt left them some time A go they wer well and harty. Godown has not got his speach yet and I dont think he ever will. thar is no nus her of any importenc mor than atlanta gorga is ours without A dout the Rebels vacuated the plac the word is this morning that the Rebe General J Morgan was kiled and all of his staff taken prisoners. alls quanterel of missoury is reported too have bene kiled. this is all the nus. John I want you too writ too me and tell me how you ar giting A long with the draft thare / is considerabel of talk her as too the draft, and if thar has bene A draf let me no hoo the ar.
 
thare is prospect of the pamaster coming round prety soon if so I will express my money too keosauqua I think think the Bois that wer prisoners will git ration money which will $49.00 A picc the prospect is prety good and likely Something for our clothing. the talk her is with some that green back ar not worth much up north but I dont think so yet when you writ let me no whether it is so or not, and how many hog you ar going too fead. I writ A leter too R. L. Waggoner the other day. So nothing mor at present Charly if you had of bene her last evning you could of saw A big snake it was “9” feat and “1” inch long Mary you and Marthy and hariet sust writ yours as ever            Wm C Holmes /
