                                                                                                            Home Aug. 30th 1878.

Dear Friends.
Your very welcome letter came to hand last week and I was glad to hear from you. Was sorry to learn of Jom Pratts loss. I have not seen the boy down here yet. Well mother I had some mush and milk for supper to night and it is the first since I left home. If ever I come home I think I can make mush milk, dutch cheese and oh! dear there is no use talking of all the goodies that I could make supper.

We had a letter from Maurice this week said they were well.

Cheese: We have been paying 12 1/2 to 15 ct but dont know what they pay at store nor whether it could be / retailed at that now. The last we got was alive with skippers in two days from the time we got it and we had to throw it all out. Wayne gave Joe away the 28th and I am glad he is gone. There was a big fire in Pet[?]ia one week ago Monday loss $50.00

Has Esther Holmes been up to Crawford this summer?

What does Flora call her baby?

Who works at Uncle Aarons?

and how is Aunt Melinda?

Is Ettie Stonehams ankle well yet? Tell me how she gets along and give her my love. Tell me how Burdicks are. Is Zetta Gray at home? Are you going to have many peaches and apples? How long will Golden Sweets last?

Have Gerows moved from Townville How is June Hyde. Do El and Olla / go out with their babies. What do they call them? Did you make a carpet this spring? Has Hattie been taking music? Did Lee. D. build a new corn house that J. P.’s are living in. Tell Sue I miss a few pies but I never thought of her taking them. I always lay it to Wayne. I suppose that you have not closed your sabbath school yet. I wish I was there to attend. Wayne says ask them if his cow is any good? Lyd I can see that you have quilts and carpet rags on the brain as much as Em and I had one year ago. Hattie look out dont let them fool you. Mart how does Jims corn barn look. do you think that you will take many a square meal there if so I am with you. We’ll ask Charlie H. up / to help us eat. Tell Charlie that I always think of him when I catch myself saying bucket. Wayne has not missed a tour since I came down and he is getting a little tired, says at night it seem that he could not go up there and sit till 1. A.M.

I wish that [?] would send me the pattern to that quilt of Lucy’s and the pattern that Em has marked how it is set to gether. I knew that I had no right to write and send in a paper but that is all the paper I had then and I wanted to write a little home so I sent it. I often think when the Herald comes if there was only a line from home

Lill I will hold you to your promise as to writing so I will address my letters to you but will write to all and want all to write to us. If any of you are ever away from home as long as I have been you will want to hear from home so dont forget me. Eva
