Emory A. Newlon to Elijah Newlon, 10 October 1863

October the 10th 1863
Elijah Newlon. Dear father I will try to scribble you a few lines to let you know how I am getting. I dont think I get any better I am weaker now than I was when I wrote to you a week ago. it dont seem as though the doctors here can do me much good. they dont have much to eat here that a sick person can eat. I get bread and milk to eat is all that I get, and I tell you a man gets pretty tired living on that all the time. it is not like being at home where a person can get something that they could eat /
I believe I will close I am to weak to write much, but I thought if I could write but a few lines you would be glad to get it. no more at present
